Before...ugly!!!




My daughter needed a desk in her room so we found one on Craigslist, not so pretty. I sanded it down, primered, rolled the purple on, then handed it over to my brother with his fancy paint sprayer, I think it's time I invest in one for myself. I painted the base with "Creamy" from Sherwin Williams, since I had some left from my bedroom set, and the top is from Home Depot, used it in her room for a border stripe. Got some glass knobs from Hobby Lobby and ta-da!!!! She likes it so that's really all that matters. I didn't glaze the desk, only the chair this time.

I bought a desk & chair off Craigslist for my daughter, it actually was a great condition chair, but since I was painting the desk I wanted to paint the chair too, so I sanded it down lightly, then painted on primer, used a paint sprayer, then glaze, then sealer. I think it turned out soooooo cute!

We bought this chair 11 yrs ago from Rob & Stucky, unfortunately if I want them to make me a new slipcover it is anywhere from $600-$1400. So I bought some fabric on clearance for $50, all they had was 8.5yrs. Luckily that was just enough to make a new one, no cording/ or anything fancy. I did velcro instead of zippers on the cushions. It took me more time to figure out where to sew first then to actually sew it together. What do you think?

Lamp shade redo

On the way home from buying this lamp, my youngest kicked at the shade till it broke. Saw this tutorial, thought I'd give it a try, it wasn't as easy as she made it sound, and I used a foam brush that was rounded, that seemed to help. It was a nice cheap alternative. The true test will be if my husband even notices a change ;)

Bedroom Set Makeover!

Just decided to paint my 13yr old bedroom set, the first furniture we purchased together. We just weren't into knotty pine anymore. So my sweet brother came over one day with his fancy paint sprayer/compressor and primered the entire set after I had lightly sanded it with 150grit. Once it was dried I used a cheap paint sprayer with Sherwin Williams' Creamy Pro Classic paint, the sprayer worked for the most part, but a bit temperamental. Let it dry and then moved onto the glaze. I just wanted a slight antiqued look so I painted it on in the creases with a cheap $1 brush where the bristles are stiff from Walmart. Then used a wet rag to wipe it off. Once I was done and let it dry for rest of day lightly brushed on polycrylic sealer. Didn't use polyurethane because had heard it turns cream/white paint yellow tint. And then went to Hobby Lobby with their amazing 50% off sale for knobs getting these porcelain ones for $2 a piece. Not bad for a quick fix don't ya think?

Candyland Party

Still getting the hang of my new camera, sorry for the dark pics. This party entailed lots and lots of cardboard. Cut up cardboards to make the figurines and all the Candyland steps, got the kids involved in the painting, think it turned out pretty good.

Happy Birthday banner

My youngest is turning 5! He decided all on his own he wants a Candyland party,since that is his favorite game. So we (kids & I) have been busy making many things for this odd party since you can't go and pick up Candyland decorations. So more photos to come, but in the meantime here is a Happy Birthday banner that I saw here
I used scrapbook paper and grosgrain ribbon, think I'll reuse it for all my kids parties ;)
